Bavarian Emigration File

From German Girls Genealogy (Teresa Steinkamp McMillin & Debra A. Hoffman:

During a recent trip to the Staatsarchiv [State Archive] Amberg located in Amberg, Bavaria, we were excited to find entire newspaper issues contained in the Auswanderakten (Permissions to Emigrate). The following translated excerpt is from Nr. 30 of the Allgemeiner Anzeiger für das Königreich Bayern, which was published on Saturday, 13 April 1844:

Announcement. 698. The cottager and journeyman wood turner Johann Andreas Haas, from Plößberg, wants to emigrate to North America with his wife and only child. A meeting has therefore been scheduled for Thursday, May 2nd, to settle any claims against the aforementioned Haas, whereby all unknown creditors must appear, under penalty of not being taken into account in the export of the assets. Tirschenreuth, March 28, 1844. Royal Bavarian District Court. Wimmer, District Judge.

Finding emigrant files, including whole newspaper issues with this article for the emigrant, are the types of gems that one might find by on-site research in Germany! Further research found that this newspaper has digitized images online, including this issue. It can be accessed at https://zdb-katalog.de/title.xhtml?idn=017867622&view=full&tab=2#1833-1853.

Citation: Landgericht ältere Ordnung Tirschenreuth, Auswanderung, alphabetical by emigrant name, file for Johann Haas, 1844; Staatsarchiv Amberg, Amberg, Bavaria.
